This is the one pairing on the site where the casino is not under the hotel's roof. The hotel's homepage describes the St Giles casino as next door on Tottenham Court Road, independently operated and open 24 hours. The addresses differ: the hotel is 12 Bedford Avenue, the casino 262 Tottenham Court Road.

So you leave through the hotel's own door and go into a separate building. Neither business publishes the walk from one to the other or says whether any of it is covered, so allow for London weather.

Each line is one day from midnight to midnight. The wide band is the casino floor, the narrow one the live tables, and the brass tick marks when the room is ready.

At the door

On your first visit you sign in once, free, at reception with photo ID; after that you simply walk in.

The gaming floor is for over-18s only. Under Think 25, anyone who could pass for younger is asked for a passport, a photocard driving licence or a card with the PASS hologram.

What to wear: smart casual. The operator notes that standards can vary by venue and event, and prefers long trousers to shorts.

Chips are paid for in pounds, in cash or with a debit card, at the table or the cage. Credit cards cannot be used for gambling in Great Britain, and the house gives no credit.

Casino spending never reaches the hotel bill. Buying or cashing chips worth £2,000 or more brings identity checks required by anti-money-laundering law.

Check-in is from 15:00, check-out at 10:00, and guests must be 18 or over. Hudson’s House and VQ Bloomsbury are the named places to eat. There is no spa and no pool; the hotel publishes nothing on a gym, room service, its room count or accessible rooms, so ask directly if any of these matter to you.
