From the lobby to the floor

Hotel and gaming floor are parts of one complex.

The Gambling Commission register places the casino on part of the first floor of Derby Riverlights, Block A, The Morledge, under the same postcode as the hotel. The Riverlights directory lists Genting Casino alongside the Holiday Inn and a Premier Inn.

Neither source describes the indoor route from the hotel lobby to that floor, and no walking time is published. Ask at reception for the way in before your first evening upstairs.

The week, hour by hour

Each line is one day from midnight to midnight. The wide band is the casino floor, the narrow one the live tables, and the brass tick marks when the room is ready.

The operator publishes only the first deal, so tables are drawn until the doors close.

Cash-game poker runs on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.

At the door

Walk straight in: no membership card and no door charge. Staff ask for photo ID if you look under 25.

The gaming floor is for over-18s only. Under Think 25, anyone who could pass for younger is asked for a passport, a photocard driving licence or a card with the PASS hologram.

What to wear: smart casual. Tidy jeans and clean trainers are fine; football shirts, vests and caps are not.

Paying downstairs

Chips are paid for in pounds, in cash or with a debit card, at the table or the cage. Credit cards cannot be used for gambling in Great Britain, and the house gives no credit.

Casino spending never reaches the hotel bill. Buying or cashing chips worth £2,000 or more brings identity checks required by anti-money-laundering law.

The room side

Rooms are ready from 14:00 and due back by 12:00, and the minimum check-in age is 18. Food and drink are at The Engine Room Bar & Restaurant, which has step-free access; there is a gym, but no spa or pool. Room service is not published, and neither are accessible rooms. Wi-fi is free, and pets are welcome for a charge.
